Over just three academic years, IAM has established as a trail blazer among new genre of Fashion & Apparel education institutes. As an institute focused on the “business of fashion & design” and innovation led teaching-learning systems, IAM has carved a niche for itself. The students are now actively participating in major promotional fairs of international standards organized by the AEPC; the faculty members are designing and executing projects like “Source Zone”; The number of International students are on the increase which all have raised the profile of IAM. Most importantly, reputed export houses, leading domestic brands and retailers are coming forward to offer internships and placements to IAM’s industry ready professionals.
The apparel industry ‘owns’ the Institute and the Management of the Institute is in safe hands of the doyens of design education in fashion industry. The most important apparel export and marketing centres namely, Delhi NCR and Navi Mumbai have IAM’s Campuses with extension CE Centre in Tirupur.IAM’s DNA so to say is industry aligned & innovation driven and the students inherit that DNA in their performance which is what is required by both domestic & export apparel industries.
Having positioned as a multi-varsity to create “industry ready professionals”, both for export and domestic industries, we see huge opportunities emerging for the students to chart exciting careers. Big export houses which are all consolidating and scaling up of operations and several of them being situated in Delhi-NCR-Gurgaon, leading buying houses, service industries as well as Rs.300,000 Crores domestic apparel market (by 2015) augur well for IAM’s growth and in creating opportunities for students. The number of international visitors to IAM from UK, Japan, Canada, France & Italy and the keen interest of the leading institutes to collaborate with the Institute go on to prove that the unique model of an “industry council” running a higher education institute has attracted attention because of its winning edge.
The IAM’s thrust is also on Continuing Education and Executive Development Programmes for the working executions / professionals of the industry. IAM has set up CE programme centres in Gurgaon, Navi Mumbai & Tirupur and plans to add two more centres in Bengaluru & Chennai. With growing reputation of its management, faculty members and the student’s creativity and innovation IAM continues on its trail blazing journey by announcing the Admissions for 2012-13. The highlights of this Academic season include international pathways for the Apparel Marketing and Merchandising Programme through Modspe Paris and Academic tie-ups with SMR University, Sansepolcro, Italy and the linkage in the making with London College of Fashion, UK. Thus IAM is today the only “Global” institute in India in the fashion / Apparel / Lifestyle education space. The students apart from having multiple options to choose from also have an equally attractive option to have face-to-face full time in- campus programmes through world’s largest university IGNOU. The Government actively supports the institute’s activities. Needy students get timely help at IAM through AEPC sponsored freeships.
