Emerging Vocational Education Landscape and Emerging Career Opportunities
Prof. C.G Naidu is M.Sc. (Statistics), P.G Diploma in distance education & PHD (Statistics). He has 28 years of research and teaching experience including 19 years in ODL system. His areas of specialization are econometrics and mathematical economics, sampling theory and economics of education.
He started the session stating that the various career opportunities are equivalent today, what matters is how one shapes up as an individual with unique capability and develop different perspectives from others.
He believed that work/ practical education should be encouraged through its curriculum in schools.
He also felt that industry needs people who are ready to hit ground and run, but the work-force coming out from the colleges is not competent enough for the industry. He elaborated that it is only bookish knowledge which is taught in colleges and less emphasis is given on the contemporary and employability skills, and this gap needs to be filled.
He felt that the focus area of the marketers should be the middle class i.e. companies/ enterprises aim should be to address to the masses.
The session ended with a very active round of questions put up by the students.
