| | | The Apparel Industry in India is rapidly integrating with the Global Supply Chain. The Global apparel industry has witnessed massive changes in the past decade with shift of the Western Production Centres to Asia and other regions. Asian economy has emerged as the main competitor for a lion share in the Global Apparel Market. There is also greater stress on skill development at every level. The Human resources form a major competitive strength of India and we need to leverage this to a great extent. The Institute of Apparel Management under the aegis of AEPC is an endeavour in this direction for shaping technically strong “junior to middle level” managerial cadre for both export and domestic apparel sectors. The institute has put in place a strong academic team led by some of the best talents in terms of Academic leadership and faculty resources apart from state-of-art infrastructure at the Apparel House Campus. The Institute offers both UG and PG programmes under International and Indian programmes. Strong Academic partnership with universities in UK and Canada, professional institutes in France & Italy, and the leading certifying body like Edexcel have helped in giving a flexible learning opportunity to the students opening up many avenues of growth. The institute has also ventured recently into ‘Professional Upgradation programmes’ so that the faculty comes in contact with industry issues on a regular basis by offering new inputs to the working executives who benefit in their career growth from such courses. |
| | Being an institute “by the industry, of the industry, for the industry”, it has the benefit of collective experience of the apparel export community and AEPC in particular and supporting associations like GEA, AEMA, TEA, CMAI etc. The students and faculty members constantly get opportunities to be part of live projects whether it is Source Zone, IIGF, TexTrends or global fairs and exhibitions etc. Thus our students have an edge in the market place being already “Industry-ready”. As the admission season for the year 2012-13 is in progress, I welcome the aspiring students to make use of the opportunities through IAM.
