Visit of Dr. Bryony Conway, Dean- School of Art & Design, University of Wolverhampton, UK at IAM, Gurgaon  and IAM Mumbai

Dr. Bryony Conway, Dean- School of Art & Design, University of Wolverhampton, UK, visited the Institute of Apparel Management (IAM), Gurgaon, on 24th January, 2011. The purpose of the visit was to have a general session of introductions and a meeting with Dr. Koshy, DG and CEO, IAM, Mr. Somesh Singh, Joint-Director, IAM , Ms. Shalini Bansal, Course Coordinator, Fashion and Design Management Programme and Dr. Anuradha Bhatia, Incharge-International Program Office. The meeting was followed by a campus visit, to see the wonderful lab facilities that are offered by IAM to its students to assist in pattern cutting, sewing, garment construction, TUKATech facilities, a pattern plotter, IT facilities and software’s offered to aid designing. Dr. Conway was impressed to see the Knowledge Resource Management Centre (KMRC) that offers updated fashion forecasts, magazines, books, and all tools to abet the design and fashion process, with additional support and network for management students as well. She also looked at some of the academic work and the garments made by the Fashion & Design Management students that were displayed during Source Zone, held in November. Later the Fashion and Lifestyle Design students also displayed their exceptional outfits displayed earlier at an exhibition named Kritika which was held in December, led by their Course Coordinator, Mr. Snehashish Ray, who was also introduced to Dr. Conway. Finally the Dean held an extensive meeting with Ms. Shalini Bansal, and Dr. Anuradha Bhatia to generally discuss the progress of the course run at IAM since it’s linked to the University of Wolverhampton as per an MoU signed for students to complete their final term in Wolverhampton, UK. Dr. Conway interacted keenly regarding all queries for the course and gave constructive ideas and suggestions during the meeting. Subsequently she travelled to the Mumbai campus, on 27th January, and met the team of the Fashion and Design Management led by Mr. Anup Kumar for another successful visit.
