Seminar on Lean Sigma Management
Apparel Industry is evolving continuously by making use of new and available techniques. Lean Six Sigma is one such technique which needs to be adopted by our apparel industry to face the new challenges more effectively. Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) along with Rajesh Bheda Consulting (RBC) organized seminar on “Lean Sigma Management for Apparel Industry “on 7th April in Apparel House which was conducted by Prof. Rajesh Bheda, CEO, Rajesh Bheda Consulting and Mr. Sudarshan Chakraborti, International Expert & Lean Sigma Master Trainer, RBC. The seminar was attended by over 45 principals of various ATDC centers and nearly 20 representatives of various export and buying offices like SABS Exports, Li & Fung (India ) P.Ltd.,TESCO Intl. Sourcing Ltd.,Adigear Intl .,etc.
Organizations worldwide are embracing Lean Sigma methodologies to usher in break through improvement and to drive away wastes. The speakers introduced the audience to the philosophy that has transformed the organizations worldwide and helped them deliver superior value to their customers. They gave the overview of “Lean manufacturing, operations improvement & six sigma”. Lean Sigma dealt on making the organization Lean by controlling various wastes. Seven different Wastes were highlighted under TIMWOOD viz Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Over Production, Over Processing & Defects. The control tools were also explained.5 s Tools for lean Management were discussed i.e. separate or sort, Straighten or store, shine, standardize, sustain and safety. Lean six sigma tools are used for defects which can be seen. The speakers conducted various demonstration activities to practically show the importance of these tools A brief introduction on Six Sigma was also initiated since six sigma stands for unseen defects.
A thorough in-house study if conducted will help one to identify the wastes in their workflow and would lead to a profitable organization. It is a guaranteed way to reduce costs of final product thereby getting more orders
