Dr. Darlie Koshy, Director General & CEO, Institute of Apparel Management & Apparel Training & Design Centre Dr. Darlie Koshy is the Director General & CEO of Institute of Apparel Management with its main Campus in Gurgaon-NCR and Apparel Training & Design Centre Network (25 ATDC-IGNOU Community Colleges & 51 ATDC-SMART Centres) under the aegis of AEPC. Dr. Darlie Koshy held top Management positions as MD of Kerala State Handloom Development Corporation, Chairman of Kerala Garments, 1st General Manager of the National Handloom Development Corporation, etc. between 1977 to 1987 before moving into academics, as a founding faculty member and Head of Fashion Management Studies at NIFT, New Delhi from 1987-2000 after being trained in FIT, New York from 1987-1988.
Dr. Darlie O Koshy an MBA from CUSAT with University rank and PhD from IIT, Delhi headed NID as Director and member of the Governing Council for 2 terms of office (2000-2008) before the current assignment. During his tenure, he has been involved in all round transformation of NID, including setting up of NID’s R&D Campus in Bangalore and a PG Campus for specialised PG Programmes at Gandhi Nagar apart from setting up India’s first Design Business Incubator in collaboration with the Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI. Dr. Koshy’s initiative and formulation of draft resulted in the first National Design Policy approved by the Government of India in February 2007. Dr. Darlie Koshy is serving / has served as a Member on the boards in International bodies, Apex industry associations, Export promotion councils and Central /State Govt. /Planning Commission committees, etc. Dr. Darlie Koshy has served on the Board of National Council of Science Museums, International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd, New Delhi, Indian Institute of Crafts & Design, Jaipur, Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) NOIDA, National Centre for Jute Diversification (NCJD), Calcutta, National Technology & Innovation Committee of CII & CII Task Force on Design & Innovation, Pt. Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology Design & Manufacturing, Jabalpur, Fashion Design Council and several others. Currently he is member on the EC of AEPC, and BOG of ATDC & IAM. He is also on the Advisory Board of Lakme Fashion Week. He has been serving the Board of Pantaloon Retail Industries Ltd, part of Future Group since 1999 as an independent non-executive Board Member. Dr. Koshy is the author of three significant books on International Marketing and Design Management, 2 monographs and has made numerous presentations, in India and overseas. Dr. Koshy's book “Indian Design Edge: Strategies for Success in the Creative Economy” published by M/s. Dr. Koshy's contribution to design & management education and promotion has been recognized by being named twice as one of “50 leaders reshaping Indian education” by Education World, The Human Development Magazine (Nov. 2006 and 2008) and has also been felicitated with the B M Das Memorial Citation in 2006 by CLRI, Chennai for his contribution “to the generation and development of knowledge as an applied researcher”. Dr. Koshy also received the Delhi IIT Alumni Award for contribution of National Development in 2008 apart from the acclaimed “Premio II Ponte 2008 Award” for contribution to Design for Development, instituted by the Fondazione Europea Guido Venosta, Milan Italy. Dr. Darlie Koshy was also conferred with the “Star of Italian Solidarity” one of the highest civilian awards of the Government of Italy in March 2009. |

He is at present the Joint Director of Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) (under the aegis of Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), sponsored by Min. of Textiles, Govt. of India) and Senior Advisor to Co-Creando Inc. After doing graduation in Fashion Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhi Nagar, he pursued his Faculty Development Program (FDP) from prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. He also participated in knowledge upgradation programs like Curriculum Development Workshop organized by INTEL education and University of California, Berkeley. His core area of expertise includes Fashion Innovation, Strategic Design Management, Product Development, Design Research and interest in international fashion business. He has developed many curriculums and new programs such as Apparel Design & Merchandising (ADM), Design for Retail Experience (DRE) Integrated Apparel & Textile Design at NID, Ahmedabad. He has also contributed towards development of various Bachelors and Master’s programs at Institute of Apparel Management (IAM). He has also been a part of Curriculum Evaluation Committee of Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune. He has been a part of the committee constituted by Deptt. Of Science & Industrial Research, Min. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India to recognize M/s. Shahi Exports as R&D Centre.
Recently he has been nominated as a member of Sub-Committee constituted by Min. of Textiles, Govt. of India for developing a five year plan for “Fashion and Textile Education”. He has also been invited by ICTRC to address the Regional Summit of School Principals, Regional Symposium of Higher Education across India for sharing “Innovative techniques for School Education” to be used as a strategy by teachers & principals to giving thrust on innovation. As a professional he has widely traveled & worked with international companies, initiated collaborations with European Universities (Domus Academy, Bocconi University, Polytecnic di Milano and Instituto Eurepo di Design) as a part of "Indo-Italian task force" to begin contemporary fashion and design education. He has been part of guest delegate at “International Textile and Apparel Congress 2007”, Hong Kong, eminent speaker in “Indian Retail Summit”, “Indo-American Textile Summit”, KVIC, HEPC, FDDI, FID and many others national and international forums. His list of innovations includes, PaunchProof™, Green Design for Retail, Fashion Clinic+, “I-Shop” (Intelligent Shops), High Altitude Clothing for defense, strategic design innovation in Police Uniforms. His various innovative ideas has been covered by leading international media including TIME Magazine, BBC, CNN, USA today, ZDF, Reuters, The Standard, Indian National Dailies and many more. He has also been invited by NDTV Profit as an expert to share strategic views on “Fashion Sector”. As a Head of Apparel Design & Merchandising Department, NID has been awarded “Best Institute in Apparel Training” by Clothing Manufactures Association of India for last four years consecutively (2005-08). It has also been rated as No. 1 fashion Institute by Outlook Magazine 2007-08, and No. 2 by Hindustan Times, Mint Survey 2007-08. He has also been awarded “Excellence in Innovative Fashion & Design Education” by ASSOCHAM & BAL BHARTI. He has been jury member to National and International fashion awards including "OUTLOOK" magazine’s “Best Indian designers”, "INDIA FASHION WEEK since 2000”, “BW-NID Design Excellence Awards”, World of Wearable Art and many more. He has also been the attended a jury as a jury member of WLS “The Debut 2011”, at ITC Ltd., Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon in January, 2011. He has also made detailed presentation on “Product differentiation through Innovation, Design, Merchandising & Experiential selling” to CCIC participants. Recently, he was invited as a “Chief Guest” at SID, Design Show for unveiling the graduate work done by design students from various design disciplines. Mr Snehasish Ray, Associate ProfessorGraduate in Fashion Design from NIFT, New Delhi in the year 1991 has had his own brand label in domestic couture and prêt clothing fashion industry. He has been a visiting faculty to the department of Fashion Design, NIFT, New Delhi since his graduation. Apart from teaching at IAM he continues to be involved with his own design studio in Delhi, manufacturing high fashion apparel for the domestic market.

Ms. Praachee Bhargava, Associate ProfessorA postgraduate in MBA (Finance & Marketing) from Symbiosis Institute of Distance Learning, Pune, she also possesses Post Graduate Diploma in Apparel Merchandising and comprehensive Diploma in Visual Merchandising. Ms. Seema Kumar, Assistant Professor Master of Design (M.Des.) in ‘Knitwear Design’ from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in ‘Drawing and Painting’ from Banasthali Vidyapith, she is currently pursuing Ph.D. from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, in Design stream. She has a versatile industry experience of 13 years, working with international brands and buyers in varied apparel product categories and n academics.
Her Areas of specialization are Knitwear and Apparel Design, Fashion Forecasting and Product Development, Drawing and Fashion Illustration, Elements and Principles of Design. She is heading the successfully running three year graduate Degree programme in 'Apparel Design and Merchandising’ at IAM. She has made significant contribution in curriculum development at IAM. She has been an award-winning art student and a professional Designer. She has successfully executed Costume Design projects for commercial films and ad-films and has keen interest in research and writing. |

Ms.Japjee Kaur, Assistant ProfessorJapjee's journey to the fashion world had begun with her studies in (M.Sc) Textiles & Clothing from M.S University, Baroda. While her passion for designing was burning strong, her interests took an additional dimension soon. To pursue her interest in managerial areas she completed PG Diploma in International Business Operations followed by MBA in Marketing Management. Her Marketing Management project focused on "Market Entry Strategies for Luxury Brands in India".
She is currently the Programme Coordinator of two disciplines namely, UG Programme in Apparel & Textiles Merchandising and PG Diploma in Fashion Design Management. Her core areas of expertise include Design Process & Product Development, Surface Ornamentation, Couture Design, TUKAcad & E-FIT, Textile Material Understanding, Marketing research and Research Methods. As an academician she has worked with reputed institutes like NIFT, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Sportking Institute of Fashion Technology and has also explored the industry work environment through short stint at Puneet Exports Inc. She has developed Theme Pavilions on "Fashion's Tryst with Global Warming" and "Haute Tech Fashion" in international fairs like IIGF and also showcased collection on "The FQ + EQ Movement" during IIGF July 2010. Ms. Neera Chandra- Faculty – Apparel ProductionShe is coordinator of a PG course –M.A in Apparel Production Management at Institute of Apparel Management. After graduating from Delhi University, she post graduated in Garment Manufacturing Technology (M.Ftech) from National Institute of Fashion Technology .With 22 years of Industry work experience in Formal Mens’ wear for domestic Indian market, she has specialized in core areas of apparel production operations , production planning and control, quality management, supply Chain, vendor evaluation and research methodology . A special research –“selection parameters for vendors for outsourcing the manufacturing of Men’s Suits in Delhi/NCR” has been done by her. As an academician she has worked with reputed institutes like NIFT, ASFT, Amity University and is also a member of academic advisory committee of ASFT. She is also involved in imparting industrial training via workshops.

Ms. Mridu Vijh Kataria, Assistant ProfessorA Postgraduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar, in Garment Manufacturing Technology (GMT 1995-97), she is currently pursuing MBA (final semester) from IGNOU, specializing in Marketing. She has more than 15 years of experience in the apparel export industry as well as in academics, having worked as a merchandiser with leading buying houses like Triburg Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and export houses like Exotique Exports. She has been a guest Faculty at JD Institute of Fashion Technology. Her core area of expertise is Apparel Export Merchandising and Business Communication. At IAM, in addition to teaching, she is the Programme Coordinator for the MBA in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing (FMM) and is actively involved in conducting industry workshops. This year, she led a team of students to our partner Institute, Modpse, Paris.

She is currently pursuing M.Tech (I.T – II year) from University School of Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh IndraprasthaUniversity, Delhi. She has 9+ years of work experience in the field of education. She has received an award acknowledging her in-depth knowledge in all aspects of Computer Science subjects by International Informatics Olympiad 2007 organized by Computer Literacy Foundation, New Delhi supported by Silver Zone, New Delhi, India. She has recently contributed her knowledge by writing blocks of units on the topic “Database Security” which is a ready study material available for the students registered under IGNOU. At IAM, in addition to teaching, she is also the coordinator of Fashion Innovation Lab(FIL), which is India’s First Digital lab as a new and future proof learning platform for the students and industry professionals of apparel sector in India.She specializes in various digital design subjects such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, other CAD softwares etc. In addition she also possesses sound knowledge of various programming languages and database technology.

Ms. Shibani Sud Siddhartha , Faculty AssociateShe is a graduate in Fashion Technology from NIFT, New Delhi in the year 1994. Her journey in the Apparel Industry started as a Design Coordinator and grew as a Sr. Designer Merchandiser. She has worked for Ravissant, Indian Handicrafts, Himanshu Exports, orient Crafts, etc.
Her interest in academics, made her join as founding faculty member and later as the academic Head of Wigan and Leigh college (India). Her core competency includes Visual Communication, Forecast, Design Research and Realization.
