One of the unique characteristics of the faculty at IAM is its diverse set of interests and proven professional backgrounds. The diversity of interests ensure that the students are exposed to a wide range of points of view about the environment in which they will live and work after completing their education at the Institute. The Vision and strategies of IAM owe much to the exceptional caliber of its faculty.

People who have acted as the building blocks and leadership of Premier Institutes like NID & NIFT are now the key leadership & faculty members at IAM.

There are 18+ faculty members supported by technical personnel and administrative staff in their educational, research and consultancy projects. They interact with industry and institutions in organizing seminars, conducting short term courses & workshops, consultancy and advisory programme. The faculty members have backgrounds in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Apparel Marketing and Merchandising, Retail and Supply Chain Management, Apparel Production and Information Technology. They have qualifications from Institutions such as FIT New York, NID,, NIFT etc.

Dr.Darlie Koshy, Director General, Institute of Apparel Management

Dr.Darlie Koshy is the Director General of Institute of Apparel Management & Apparel Training and Design Center Network under the aegis of AEPC. He is the CEO for all the Apparel Training & Design Centres across the country and the Institutes of Apparel Management in Gurgaon and Mumbai. Dr. Koshy is the author of three pioneering books including the “Indian Design Edge”, a much acclaimed recent publication. Dr. Koshy’s contribution to design education and promotion has been recognized by being named twice as one of “50 leaders reshaping Indian education” by Education World, The Human Development Magazine (Nov. 2007, Oct. 2008)). Dr. Koshy also received the Delhi IIT Alumni Award for contribution of National Development in 2008 apart from “Premio II Ponte 2008 Award” for contribution to the Design for Development and Quality of Life instituted by the Fondazione Europea Guido Venosta, Milan Italy.Dr Koshy has also been facilated with the Order of Star of Italian Solidarity. Before taking on his current position, Dr. Koshy was the Director of the National Institute of Design for two terms of office.

Mr. Somesh Singh, JD & Head, FD & Academic Programme

He is presently the Joint Director of Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon & Sanpada (Navi Mumbai). He finished his Graduate Diploma in Fashion Design from NIFT, two years Faculty Development Programme from NID, Ahmedabad with specialization in Design, Strategic Innovation, Design Research and New Product Development.

As a professional he has wide experience working with national & international companies, initiated collaborations with European Universities (Domus Academy, Bocconi University, Polytecnic di Milano and Instituto Eurepo di Design) as a part of "Indo-Italian task force".

He has been invited as a guest delegate in “International Textile and Apparel Congress 2007”, Hong Kong, eminent speaker in “Indian Retail Summit”, “Indo-American Textile Summit”, KVIC, HEPC, FDDI, FID etc. and many such national and international forums.

His list of innovations includes, PaunchProof™, Green Design for Retail, Fashion Clinic+, “I-Shop” (Intelligent Shops), High Altitude Clothing for defense, strategic design innovation in Police Uniforms. His various innovative ideas has been covered by leading international media including TIME Magazine, BBC, CNN, USA today, ZDF, Reuters, The Standard & leading National Dailies & TV Channel like AajTak, NDTV, Times Now etc.

While heading Apparel Design & Merchandising Department at NID, the Institute has been awarded “Best Institute in Apparel Training” by Clothing Manufactures Association of India for last four years consecutively (2005-08). It has also been rated as No. 1 fashion Institute by Outlook Magazine 2007-08, and No. 2 by Hindustan Times, Mint Survey 2007-08.

He has been jury member to National and International fashion awards including "OUTLOOK" magazine’s “Best Indian Designers”, "INDIA FASHION WEEK”, “BW-NID Design Excellence Awards” etc.

Ms. Sonia Chowdhry, Professor

Graduate in the Apparel Marketing and Merchandising department (Class of 1990) of the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

After working in the industry for 5 years she joined as a Faculty member in the Marketing and Merchandising department at NIFT, New Delhi. She has received her pedagogic training in her chosen discipline at FIT New York. She has 14 years experience in teaching. She specializes in Fashion Marketing, Consumer Behavior in Fashion, Brands & Retail Management and Fragrance Knowledge.

Ms. Kamal Kapoor, Project Head CE programme

She has an over 30 year association with the Apparel Industry. She has been a part of it in a variety of ways viz As Head of two of the largest US retailers May Dept. Stores and AMC in the Indian Sub Continent; managing a knit factory in NEPZ; and Marketing for Pearl Global and Modelama.

She initiated setting up Pearl Academy of Fashion and was Guest Faculty teaching Merchandising and Marketing at NIFT since its inception. Her passion is this Industry.

Mr Snehasish Ray, Associate Professor

Graduate in Fashion Design from NIFT, New Delhi in the year 1991 has had his own brand label in domestic couture and prêt clothing fashion industry. He has been a visiting faculty to the department of Fashion Design, NIFT, New Delhi since his graduation. Apart from teaching at IAM he continues to be involved with his own design studio in Delhi, manufacturing high fashion apparel for the domestic market.

Ms. Aradhika Mehta, Adjunct Faculty

Postgraduate of the AMM program of NIFT, Delhi. She has contributed significantly in diverse roles across the Marketing, Product Development, Merchandising and Retail Buying functions for some of the leading international apparel and retail brands of the country for 7 years. She has the distinction of working across the entire spectrum of product categories of clothing in her professional roles. Her area of expertise spans Product development, Category management and Retailing.

Ms. Seema Kumar, Assistant Professor

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Drawing and Painting from Banasthali Vidyapith and Postgraduate in Knitwear Design & Technology from NIFT. With an Industry experience of almost 10 years working with international brands and buyers, her Areas of specialization are Merchandising, Product Development, Knitwear, Drawing and Fashion Illustration, Elements and Principles of Design.

Ms. Rakhi Mittal, Assistant Professor

PG Diploma in Textile Design and Development from NIFT. With 7 years of Industry work experience her core areas of specialization are Design & Product Development, Surface Techniques and CAD

Ms.Shalini Bansal, Assistant Professor

Post Graduate from NID in Textile Design. She has worked in the domestic retail industry for the last 4 years as a product designer and design consultant for well know luxury home furnishing brand. She brings with her depth of knowledge in the area of textiles and product design and development.

Mr. Parag Goel, Assistant Professor

He is a pass out from NIFT Gandhinagar garment manufacturing technology batch 1995-97.He has worked in the industry for approx. 12 years before joining IAM. During his industry tenure he has worked for shahi exports, Triburg, Target Corporation and his last job being quality and technical assurance manager at a buying house.
His specialized areas are quality, production and compliance.

Dr. Anuradha Bhatia, Assistant Professor

Having completed her Bsc (Hons) in Botany from Delhi University, she carried on her interest in textiles by pursuing PG Diploma in Graphic Design from Apeejay Inst Of Design, New Delhi .She also did a PG diploma from NIFT, however her love for research and academics prompted her to study Msc at UMIST, UK, a premier university for studying Textiles and a PhD in Textiles from The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK. She has nearly 5 years of work experience as a visual & apparel merchandiser & exhibition designer in India. Also holds great interest in Graphic Designing.

Ms. Shalini Sharma, Faculty Associate

Post graduate in Leather Apparel Design & Technology from NIFT, New Delhi. She has worked with industry for three years as designer where she participated in various International Fairs. After that worked as Lecturer in Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi for three years. Along with teaching she was also involved in industry projects. Her areas of specialization are Fashion Illustration, Design Process and Fashion Studies.

Ms. Manka Vasti, Faculty Associate

She is M.Sc (Computer Science) from Maharishi Dayanand University and B.E. (Computer) from University of Pune. She has 6+ years of work experience in the field of education, software development and teaching.
She has received an award acknowledging her in-depth knowledge in all aspects of Computer Science subjects as many of the questions sent by her were incorporated in International Informatics Olympiad 2007 organized by Computer Literacy Foundation, New Delhi supported by Silver Zone, New Delhi, India.
She specializes in various digital design subjects such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel Draw, AutoCAD etc. In addition she also possesses sound knowledge of various programming languages and database technology.

Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Adjunct Faculty

Graduate from the Delhi University (DU), he also has a Diploma in Graphics. He has an experience of more than 9 years in the fashion industry and his areas of expertise are Computer Aided Design (CAD) etc. He is a Certified Instructor of the Tukacad Studio.

Ms RAKHI MANOCHA, Adjunct Faculty

She has over 15 years of experience in the apparel export Industry; having worked with leading exporters likes Orient Craft Ltd. and TCNS Ltd. Her area of expertise is apparel export marketing and Merchandising. She has extensive experience of sourcing apparel for US and European markets from India and Bangladesh as well as sourcing raw materials from India, China, Taiwan, Korea, etc. She is an AMM graduate (1992-94) from NIFT, Delhi and did her graduation in Economics (Hons) from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi. Besides IAM, Rakhi is also associated with NIFT, Delhi and Pearl Academy of Fashion as guest Faculty for merchandising.

Ms. Mridu Vijh Kataria, Faculty Trainee

She is a Postgraduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar, in Garment Manufacturing Technology (GMT 1995-97). She has 13 years of experience in the apparel export industry, having worked as a merchandiser with leading buying houses like Triburg Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and export houses like Exotique Exports. Her area of expertise is Apparel Export Merchandising.

Ms. Anwita Singh, Faculty Trainee

Post Graduate Degree in Ecology & Environment, PGDBM – 2 years (Full Time) with work Experience of 8 years in industry and her area of specialization is Finance & International Business.

Dr. Himadri Ghosh, Advisor & Senior Professor

Having completed his B.A fine arts, B.Tex & M. Tex, he did his PhD. in open end spinning from faculty of technology, M.S. University, Baroda. He holds a PG Diploma in Textile Design from National Institute of Design. Has Undergone special training in rotary printing and engraving in Stork Brabant, Boxmeer, Holland in 1977.
He carries a big bouquet of experience with him. He has worked as as a Chief Designer in the Hukamchand Mills Ltd., Indore for 8 years. Has also been associated with organizations like: Elar Fashions Ltd (Mumbai); in Pappilon Exports (tirupur); Decorative Exports; Platypus Designs pvt. Ltd. He has headed the consultancy and design services division at NID for 2 years. He is also a proprietor of Himadri Ghosh Designs, Ahmedabad.
Dr. Ghosh is now associated with IAM, Mumbai campus as an Advisor & Sr. Professor.

Mr. Rajesh Singh, CE Head

Post Graduate in Garment Manufacturing Technology from NIFT & a Statistics honors, having major experience in various retail corporates with diversified business aspects of Lifestyle/Fashion product portfolio. With more than 11 yrs of professional experience with global exposure at various management level, proficient in business performance analysis, best business practices & effective communication.

Mr. Nilanjan Das, Associate Professor

He is GDPD (Communication Design) from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. He has 10+ years of work experience in the field of Fashion Communication, Advetising, Film Making, Design Management and Academics. He has received special mention award for direction and music composition for a 30 sec spot for Rajeev Gandhi Foundation. He has directed and produced various Ad films, corporate films, animation films for brands like Relience, Gillette, Piramal Healthcare and UNICEF. He specializes in various design subjects such as Design Drawing, Colour and Composition, Elements of Design, Space Form and Structure.

Ms. Sona Vyas Raman, Assistant Professor

Graduate in Fashion Designing and Apparel Manufacturing Technology from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai and Bachelor of Commerce from University of Mumbai. She has 16 Years of professional & academic experience. Her areas of Specialization are Retail Merchandising Management, Visual Merchandising and Export Merchandising.

Mr. Anup Kumar, Senior Lecturer

Graduate in Fashion Design from NIIFT, Mohali. He has 4.5 Years Of professional experience worked with both domestic as well as international brand. His areas of Specialization are Computer Aided design, fashion trend forecasting and product / range development.

Ms. Janhavi S. Kulkarni , Faculty Trainee

Graduate in Textile Engineering, she has 6years of Industry Experience in Export Merchandising for garments as well as Home furnishing. She has been a visiting faculty to SASMIRA's Institute of Man-Made Textiles, Worli, Mumbai.
