M.A. in Apparel Production Management

A Post-Graduate programme that allows students from diverse backgrounds to gain basic concepts and knowledge in core subjects related to the apparel product and industry, business, and allied studies – related to a focused specialization in apparel production management.

To train students in advanced, comprehensive practical skills and techniques employed for specialized applications in apparel production management as applicable to both, export and the growing domestic sectors.

The Programme emphasizes on intensive theoretical and applied training in core areas of apparel production, supply chain management, textiles, apparel merchandising and computer applications.
Such a programme ensures that each professional, although specifically qualified for a particular specialization area, is also able to interact competently with other non-specialized areas of functioning necessary for an effective manager. The programme inculcates functioning within the context of commerce, technology and industry as a responsible member of a core team.

Duration : 2years

Eligibility : Graduate Degree or equivalent from any recognized university/institution in any discipline. As the medium of instruction is English, a working knowledge of the language is desirable.

Programme Objectives

  • Comprehensive understanding of all core functions in the industry, commercial and managerial activities
  • An appreciation and awareness of current activity and developments in the industry in a national and international context, in terms of both technological and commercial trends
  • An appreciation, understanding and use of computers, IT and CAD/CAM in the apparel industry

  • Analytical and managerial skills required to assimilate, correlate and generate new ideas beyond the taught aspects of the course and to produce a conclusion in an innovative way

  • Reasoning and analytical skills necessary for interpreting conceptual and situational inter-relationships
  • The ability to communicate and present ideas and findings in a professional manner
Career Opportunities

On completion of the programme students would enter the Clothing and Textile Industry as Professional Managers with the expertise to handle the function of supervising and planning production of apparel and other textile products. As Asst. Production Managers / Production Executives/Assistant QA managers/Assistant Managers PPC.They would be able to understand and work within established production systems according to the company’s product requirements; be able to implement procedures and MIS for raw material and resource planning, sourcing and order execution/replenishment, be able to understand and implement the company’s quality systems to ensure product quality requirements, be able to understand and implement supply chain follow-up requirement for timely deliveries, co-ordinate between production and other departments in the organization.

M.A. in Fashion Retail Management

A Post-Graduate programme that emphasizes on intensive theoretical and applied training in core areas of Fashion, Retailing, Marketing, Product knowledge .

Such a programme ensures that each professional, although specifically qualified for a particular specialization area, is also able to interact competently with other non-specialized areas of functioning necessary for an effective manager. The programme inculcates functioning within the context of commerce, technology and industry as a responsible member of a core team.

Duration: 2 years

Programme Objectives

To provide a Post-Graduate programme in phases that allows for a broad intake of students from diverse backgrounds to gain basic concepts and knowledge in core retail subjects, business, and allied studies; and train them in advanced, comprehensive practical skills and techniques necessary for specialized applications in fashion and lifestyle retailing.

The Programme aims at the following overall learning objectives:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all core functions of the Retail industry- commercial and managerial activities.
  • Knowledge of product and retail markets, retailing processes and systems,
  • Imparting a national and global perspective and awareness of retailing,
  • Orientation towards marketing and understanding of key concepts of consumer behavior.
  • An appreciation, understanding and use of computers- MIS and IT applications in the Retail industry.
  • Creative skills required to assimilate, correlate and generate new ideas beyond the taught aspects of the course and to produce a conclusion/product in an innovative way.
